OUR STORY
From a small shop to somewhere special
Southwood began in the early 1980s as a small family-run fruit and vegetable shop. Our roots go back much further: the farm we’re based on has been in the same family for over 200 years.
Over the years, with the support of our customers, we’ve grown into a garden centre filled with plants, outdoor living inspiration, gifts and seasonal displays, alongside our farm shop, Lucy’s Coffee Shop and George’s Animal Farm.
There’s more to explore these days, but the things that matter to us haven’t changed: friendly service, quality products and making everyone feel welcome.

A little more about us
Is Southwood an independent, family-run business?
Yes. Southwood Garden Centre is owned and run by the Jones family. We began as a small fruit and vegetable shop in the early 1980s and remain proudly independent today.
Where can I visit Southwood Garden Centre?
You’ll find us on Ganton Avenue, Cottingham, East Yorkshire, HU16 5HG, near Hull, with free customer parking. Our Visit Southwood guide has opening hours, directions and ideas for your visit.
Are the Christmas and Halloween websites part of Southwood?
