Welcome to Southwood Garden Centre, a family-run business located in the village of Cottingham, East Yorkshire.

What started as a small fruit and vegetable shop in the early 1980s has grown into one of East Yorkshire's favourite destinations for plants, garden furniture, BBQs, gifts, seasonal displays and great food and drink.

Today, we proudly welcome visitors from Hull, Beverley, Hessle, Brough, Hedon, Willerby, Anlaby and across the region, as well as serving customers throughout the UK via our online stores.

Our Story

Southwood began life in the early 1980s as a small family-run fruit and vegetable shop. But the farm it's based on has been in the same family for over 200 years. 

Over the years, thanks to the support of our loyal customers and our passion for creating a unique shopping experience, the business has steadily grown and evolved into the destination it is today.

While much has changed since those early days, our core values remain the same. We continue to focus on offering excellent customer service, quality products and a friendly shopping experience for every customer who visits us.

Spring & Summer

As the gardening season begins, our plant area bursts into colour with bedding plants, hanging baskets, shrubs and garden inspiration. Visitors can also explore our latest garden furniture collections and BBQ displays.

Autumn

As the seasons change, Southwood transforms with autumn planting ideas, seasonal decorations and one of the area's most popular pumpkin displays.

Halloween

Halloween has become one of our biggest seasonal events, with themed displays, decorations and spooky inspiration attracting visitors from across East Yorkshire and beyond. Each year we offer a display of thousands of pumpkins perfect for pictures and to choose your favourite. 

Christmas

Christmas is a truly special time at Southwood.

Our festive displays feature thousands of decorations, lights, gifts, Christmas trees and seasonal products, helping customers create magical Christmas celebrations in their own homes.
